A Writer!

I officially have become a 'writer' for the Washington Post. Ok, so it may be a one (possibly two?) time thing, but still, I wrote for the Post and that's pretty exciting in my opinion. Check out the story, as well as all the other great stories in the series here. Full Mother's Day recap and actual post later.

  39. I just read the WaPo article.. and as expected, I CRIED. It's the broken promises that get me about my husband too. He "promised" to be home for my birtday, and wasn't. Made the same promise several years in a row, and broke it every time. Now I tell him "Don't you DARE make me a promise like that again... because I will be heartbroken, again, if you break it." The Army always seems to take him away in mid-September, every year- and will again this year.

But of course that's only one little reason why your words hit home: at least I know my husband is still alive in the here & now.

I do hear hope and joy in your voice though lately, which is SO good to hear. Glad you met another Gold Star too- that connection will be a blessing.

  41. I actually read the article when you first posted it to facebook, but I'm JUST now getting on the blogs! I absolutely loved it! You have such a talent for communicating exactly the right emotions. It was beautiful. I'm sure, also, that you spoke not only for yourself but for many women out there, and brought comfort to them in showing them they were not alone. I'm sorry that this is the reason WaPo and the nation were introduced to you, but they (we) are all the better for it!
